WHAT A DAY INVOLVES
Arrival and Departure
On arrival at Pre-School a member of Pre-School staff will be present at the school gate and at the Pre-School door to welcome you; this also applies to home time. We do ask you not to leave your child without telling a member of staff. You will sign your child in and out of the Preschool on arrival and departure and this will be checked by a member of staff after all the parents have departed.
If you know in advance that you will be unable to collect your child, we have a form that must be completed and signed in order that we release him / her into others care.
In the case of an emergency and you cannot pick up your child, we operate a password system. A suitable password can be thought of that is known only to you and the Pre-School. This can be given to the collecting adult and we will be able to release the child. The password can be changed as required.
What should my child wear?
Please dress your child in something they feel comfortable in. It can get messy! We do have Pre-School polo shirts, which you can order from the Pre-School Manager. They come in either a lemon or sky blue colour and are £6. Please indicate your child's size when ordering. We have just introduced a navy hooded fleece for £12.
We encourage children to gain skills that help them to be independent and look after themselves. These include taking themselves to the toilet and taking off, and putting on, outdoor clothes. Clothing that is easy for them to manage will help them do this.
Shoes and trainers are to be worn, not Wellington boots or slippers. It would also be helpful if names can be put in cardigans, coats, hats and boots. Space in our foyer is at a premium so please ensure that your child has a change of clothes available in a small named bag on their peg.
In the winter months, suitable footwear must be worn in case of outside play.
During the summer we can provide hats for sunny days and we also provide sun cream. However, you can provide your own if you wish.
The Preschool organizes the day so that the children can take part in a variety of child-chosen and adult-led activities. These take account of the child's changing energy levels throughout the day. The Preschool caters for children's' individual needs for rest and quiet activities during the day. Outdoor activities contribute to children's heath, the physical development and their knowledge of the world around them.
We encourage all the children to take full advantage of our outside space, whatever the great British weather throws at us! We supply waterproof coveralls and wellies for wet and windy days and sunhats and sun cream for hot and sunny days.
Children are allowed to flow freely inside or outside encouraging them to experiment and explore within a supported and safe environment.
