Weeley Rainbow Preschool is a small facility and serves the local community of Weeley although many of our children come from outside of this area.  It has been in its current location since 2002 when it moved from the village hall into the school grounds.  We provide a safe, secure and stimulating environment in which the children can learn through play about the world around them.  The care and education we offer helps children to continue to develop through stimulating and entertaining activities which are appropriate to their age and stage of development.  We have a voluntary, committed and focused Committee who oversee the running of the preschool and regularly hold fund-raising events in order to buy new equipment and provide new resources for the children wherever possible.  We rely on the goodwill of parents and their involvement in the preschool in order to keep running.

We hold a very strong link to the main school of St Andrews and offer our older children the opportunity to spend time with the KS1 Reception children within the school.

This activity, offered to our older children during the term before they start school, is currently held on a Wednesday morning.  The children are taken to participate in KS1 assembly and for an hour during the afternoon where they spend time within the KS1 Reception classroom.  This is fully supervised activity and is supported by our own preschool staff. The children love being taken over the 'big school' and in turn we have found that this helps with the transition between preschool and school so that it does not seem such a daunting undertaking for our children when they leave.

The school also gives us access to the school hall for PE activities and we use this resource for all our children.  We hope to increase these links over the forthcoming years.
